This Italian breed is found in the Emilia Romagna region. It occurs in many colors, tho' Golden Buttercup, Silver Buttercup, White, Silver, and Cuckoo are commonly found. There is no attempt to breed these color varieties separately and all may be found in the same flock. Leg color is also variable. It is, however, a fine boned breed with a medium single comb, which folds over in the female. Earlobes are whitish.

Cocks weigh in around 2-2.5 kg and hens from 1.9 to 2 kg.

Romagnola hens lay a white egg.
